We like to keep things simple, and we value high quality, pure ingredients. Most of what we use is also certified organic or wildcrafted.

This is what we use, and why.

      Activated bamboo charcoal

Activated charcoal is extremely porous, and has an incredible ability to absorb excess oil. We add it our products for a gentle cleaning boost.

      Arrowroot powder

A silky soft starch made from ground arrowroot rootstalks, it’s light feel and ability to absorb excess oil and toxins and reduce odours make it a perfect fit for our dry shampoo and deodorant.

      Avocado oil

Not just for cooking, this nutrient rich fruit oil is high in Vitamins A, D and E, and can boost collagen production and treat age spots. It also works to reduce inflammation of the skin. We use avocado oil in our lip balms and eye cream.

      Beeswax

Beeswax provides protection from environmental damage and holds in moisture without clogging the pores, and it soothes temporary itching.

      Bentonite clay

Bentonite clay has an excellent ability to draw out toxins and has a calming effect on skin conditions such as rashes.

      Brown rice flour

Brown rice flour is naturally anti-inflammatory, and makes a great natural exfoliant.

      Calendula extract

Commonly known as pot marigold, calendula extract is a very calming plant oil, with a warm and subtle herbal scent. Calendula moisturizes and soothes chapped skin, relieves itchiness, and is antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory.

      Candelilla wax

A vegan wax derived from the leaves of the candelilla shrub. It makes a balm glide easily onto your skin. We use it in place of beeswax for our vegan products.

      Castor oil

Pressed from the seeds of the castor bean plant, castor oil is naturally thick and sticky. We use it in soaps to create a rich lather.

      Clay

Naturally occurring, each clay has it’s own unique texture and absorbency level. We use a variety of clays in our soaps to add slip, texture, and muted visual tones.

      Cocoa butter

Cocoa butter is good for preventing skin dryness and peeling.

      Coconut oil (virgin)

A unique and versatile oil that goes well with (almost) everything. It strengthens skin tissue, removes dead skin cells, and an excellent moisturizer.

      Essential oils

We use these potent plant essences to naturally scent our products, and to bring their unique properties into each product we make. We scent products designed for the face and for children very gently.

      Fractionated coconut oil

Also known as MCT (medium chain triglycerides) oil, this ingredient is the result of heating and separating the fatty acids found in coconut oil. It feels featherlight on skin and tends not to clog pores, and has a very shelf life. That’s why it’s our choice of carrier oil for our aromatherapy blends.

      Garbanzo bean flour

Garbanzo bean flour has a drawing and drying effect for those with more oily skin.

      Glycerin

Glycerin draws moisture from the air to your skin, to help it stay hydrated. Ours is sourced from organic, non-GMO soybeans.

      Hemp oil

Hemp is a great moisturizer for skin and hair. It absorbs readily into the skin and helps prevent skin aging, and also brings relief to acne, minor abrasions, psoriasis and eczema.

      Hibiscus

Hibiscus is rich in anti-oxidants that help reverse the damage caused by UV rays and pollutants,

      Jojoba oil

A liquid plant wax that resembles our skin’s own natural sebum. When used regularly, jojoba oil can control acne as it contains proteins and minerals that mimic collagen and our natural sebum, so it tricks your skin into producing less sebum. We use it in several of facial products.

      Kaolin Clay

Kaolin clay soaks up sweat and also draws out impurities from pores, and soothes irritated skin and sensitive skin, and we love to use it in our deodorants.

      Mango butter

A nourishing butter made from mango seeds.

      Marshmellow root

This herb reduces inflammation and helps heal irritated skin.

      Oat flour

Yes, oat flour! Oat flour is extra gentle and very healing, nourishing, and softening to the skin,

      Olive oil

Olive oil is very gentle on skin and a good moisturizer, and a great choice for people with nut allergies.

      Plantain

Plantain is a herb that speeds up healing and skin cell regeneration.

      Rosehip oil

Rosehip oil is extremely high in essential fatty acids and is known to help treat dry, irritated, weathered skin. It is ideal for dry, mature skin, and helps boost collagen production.

      Sage

Not only for cooking! Sage is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory so it’s perfect for treating acne, psoriasis and eczema.

      Sea salt

We use this briny essence of the sea to exfoliate, soften, and purify.

      Shea butter

A staple in our skincare kit, this deeply moisturizing butter is made from the nut of the karite tree. It is rich in Vitamins A and E, and also contains cinnamic acid, a special compound that helps to safeguard the skin from ultraviolet ray (UV) damage.

      Tamanu oil

Tamanu oil is known as a healing oil. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antibiotic properties. It can be used to treat a whole host of skin problems, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, cuts, rashes and insect bites.

      Vitamin E

An antioxidant extraordinaire that keeps the oils and butters in our formulas fresh. Our vitamin E is sourced from non-gmo sunflower seeds, which also provide skin loving phytosterols and naturally occurring squalene.

      Zinc oxide (non-nano)

Zinc oxide provides a protective barrier on the skin, protecting it from ultraviolet ray (UV) damage. Plus it reduces inflammation associated with rashes, allergies, or irritation. We love it in our sun care products as well as in Baby Bum Cream.

      Common allergens

Our products are created in a studio that handles coconut products and other common allergens, and while we try our best, crossover may occur. Please get in touch if you have any specific concerns.
